"Each module of the course built on the previous and was informative, challenging and taught me much about myself and my creativity. Overall, the course went beyond all expectations and was successful in supporting me to get focused, and most importantly, writing. Sally was a brilliant tutor. Her feedback was always spot on, providing both encouragement and useful suggestions for further development. She wasn't at all phased by my particular range of insecurities and self-constructed barriers and gently but firmly helped me get over myself and get writing. My experience with the college has been excellent. I initially enrolled in the Memoir course that I wasn't able to complete and very much appreciated that I was able to defer and start another course six months later. The Administrator and Principal were very understanding and flexible in their approach to providing a solution to my situation. I would fully recommend the college to family, friends and colleagues." Pania Ellison, Break Through Your Writing Barriers Course

“It was very rewarding, learning about myself. The course met my expectations above and beyond. Overall, it changed my thinking. My tutor Sally gave excellent feedback of the course sessions. NZ Writers College were efficient and easy to approach.” Nicholas Harvey, Break Through Your Writing Barriers Course, Wellington

“The course allowed me to reflect on my writing barriers and look critically at what blocks my creativity. Sally was a fantastic tutor who nurtured my process of discovering more about my blocks and how to take steps forward. She was encouraging, supportive and created a light mood when intense issues were explored. She put a lot into the weekly feedback and got me to think about core issues in an insightful manner. Sally is what made the course what it stands for. Her input and encouragement helped me knock down my barriers, which has left me feeling hopeful and inspired about my writing. I wanted to do this course to feel inspired and hopeful about my writing and it did so. But far more importantly, it created self awareness to my barriers and equipped me with tools to take with me in my writing career. The Writers’ College is efficient and reliable and run by fantastic staff and tutors who take pride in creating a fantastic learning experience.” Yolanta Suart, Break Through Your Writing Barriers Course

“The course was a last resort, as I didn’t know what to do about my writing problems. The course exceeded my expectations and was a very helpful, positive experience; I have learnt many valuable lessons that I can take with me. I feel so much better about my writing now. I got to the heart of my writing anxieties and learnt ways of dealing with them and moving forward. Sally was a wonderful, positive, encouraging tutor whose feedback was always prompt and insightful. I discovered the Writers’ College at just the right time and am very happy with my experience.” Laila Murphy, Break Through Your Writing Barriers

“My experience on this course was an absolute dream. Everything was co-ordinated perfectly. The course content was very relevant, insightful and inspiring. The course was conducted to a very high professional standard. It was such a pleasure to deal with true professionals who are obviously experts in their field for a very good reason. Sally was such a joy to deal with; full of positivity, fun, informative and onto it! The one-on-one contact with her felt very real and special, like she was only dealing with me personally and had all the time and interest in the world. She is a real inspiration and truly interested in helping one grow creatively; a joy to work with. The College staff are total professionals! I have dealt with Koos and he has been outstanding. Prompt replies with a lovely degree of warmth – thanks! I would highly recommend this course.” Catherine Bos, Break Through Your Writing Barriers

"This course has been special and the start of something that will stay with me. This course has kind of sneaked up on my blocks and got in underneath them without the blocks having that same intensity of power any more. I now know I can break through them when they come up. It’s nothing like what I expected. I think I expected to be told a lot of things instead I’ve been ‘shown’ by the power of the questions. I didn’t expect to enjoy it so much. I thought it was going to be ‘hard work’ and more like crashing through my barriers but the subtlety of the process has been enchanting.
I’m writing and just getting on with it. I’m actioning what I need to work on for publishing my book. I have a whole lot more confidence and a storehouse of tools to tap into to get me writing that I never had before. My writing life has changed completely." Break Through Your Writing Barriers Course, Denise Weir

"Since completing this course…I feel more confident. I’ve realized that it’s in my power to pursue my dreams and confront whatever it is that keeps holding me back. I’ve realised that I need to face my fears and stop making excuses if I’m serious about writing. I do not want to look at writing just as a possible career change but rather focus on writing as something to enrich my life, i.e. I don’t have to make it a career to be fulfilled. But I do need to write as it will make me become a better person. I’m also now more positive of writing existing alongside my teaching profession. It doesn’t have to be the one or the other. They can co-exist for now." Corrina Coetzer, Break through your Writing Barriers Course
"I feel most grateful for this course. I actually had no idea what to expect. I didn’t want to walk into this with preconceptions that would drown out the reality. I simply held the hope that I would grow and find it in me, however deeply buried, to try and keep trying.  And that hope has been met with success resounding. I grew and learnt a great deal from my wonderful experience learning with you." Adrienne Addinall, Break through your Writing Barriers Course

"I enjoyed [the course] immensely. Apart from anything else, it forced me into some sort of timetable in order to keep up with the tutor! My experience of my tutor was excellent. Sally's responses were clearly not just by rote. The course made me think and self-analyse. It must be good - I enthused enough to my 32-year-old son for him to sign himself up for one of your other courses." Sue Hill, Break through your Writing Barriers Course

“It was an unforgettable journey of discovering obstacles in my writing career, together with a tutor who never let me down.  Sally has the ability to lift anybody up, and is the best guide that anybody can hope to meet in their writing career. She knows how to lead you through difficult trails you find on the way. What a privilege to study under such extraordinary leadership! Thanks, Sal! This course was an unforgettable experience.” Elma Roos, Break Through Your Writing Barriers

"At the beginning of this course I was so hopeless about writing that I really thought I can't be helped.  I thought that the only thing that might help is to go and see a psychiatrist to help me remove the chronic writer's block I am sitting with.  I thought that I was what Salieri said in Amadeus – why did God give me the desire but not the talent or the creativity?  I was useless with The Artist’s Way.  I would do two weeks and then just, somehow, stop.
I really didn’t expect much from the course.  I thought it would teach me a few skills and perhaps scratch the surface of a problem.  I didn’t expect what happened.  I didn’t expect epiphany after epiphany and to find the actual root of the problem.  In fact, right after I paid the fees for the course I thought that it would be a massive waste of money.
I don’t know what happened exactly between then and now  – it was like a car crash... first I was here, then I was there and then I was thrown out of the car and then it was all over... The point is that today I have ideas.  I look with different eyes at the world.  I think differently about my thought processes and I actually started writing.  I outlined almost the entire plot of a novel. I don’t know what changed.  I just know it did.

Today, I am not the same person that started this course...and it’s a good thing.  At the risk of sounding very soppy: I was brought back to life." Anonymous, Break through your Writing Barriers

“I've had a wonderful week thanks to being placed as a runner-up in a short story competition: http://www.cazart.co.uk/index.php?page=story&id=346. I really believe that it's a direct result of this course as I'd never have sent it in otherwise.” Norah Jansen, Break through your Writing Barriers

“The course was everything I expected and more. It was enjoyable, entertaining and a fun way of learning. The experience I had with my lecturer was absolutely perfect; Sally was always kind and helpful and supportive. The course was informative and helped me achieve what I wanted to achieve. It was a good experience, one that I would love to do again and one that I would recommend to others.” Monica Terlouw, Break Through Your Writing Barriers
